Business Department

The philosophy and objectives of the business department are: to foster in our students a Christian attitude in all business matters, to prepare them for their role as responsible citizens, and to provide them with an academic background to pursue their study of business at post-secondary institutions of learning or to obtain a job upon graduation.

English Department

English instruction emphasizes composition, literature study, and vocabulary development, the three key elements of effective language arts learning. Freshmen English courses continue the integrated Language Arts programs of parish and public elementary schools. Writing, language arts, and vocabulary instruction continue in tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades, with a different literature emphasis each year. Vocabulary development is a vital component of each English course.

Mathematics Department

It is the goal of the mathematics department to present course content in an enjoyable manner to accommodate two important needs in mathematics- increasing the confidence of all students and strengthening the retention of all material. The curriculum has been carefully developed to motivate students and inspire each young person to want to reach his or her fullest potential in every mathematics course. All students take three years of mathematics with the majority electing to take a fourth year.

Science Department

The department of science seeks to produce students who can function as scientifically literate citizens of today's increasingly technological society. This is done through course work that places the major emphasis on the lab-oriented inquiry method. All students take three years of science and most elect to take a fourth year.

Social Studies Department

The social studies program intends to foster an intelligent comprehension of the contemporary world, especially the growing interdependence of nations, by providing the necessary social, political, economic, and geographic background to appreciate the historical continuity of human development. The curriculum encourages students to develop the skills necessary to make reasoned judgments and evaluations by creating opportunities for research and discussion.

Theology Department

The theology department shares in one of the most essential works of the Church: teaching and forming others in a knowledge and appreciation of the fullness of the Catholic faith. The curriculum provides student with a solid foundation in Catholic beliefs, spirituality, basic moral theology, Catholic social teaching, the Bible, Church, and the meaning of Christian vocation.

World Language Department

A goal of quality education is to help every student acquire understanding and appreciation of persons belonging to other social, cultural, and ethnic groups. One of the best ways to do this is through knowledge of the language of other people. For everyone who wants to be a well-rounded, well-informed human being living in the space age, the study of world language must become a basic tool. The world language department combines this basic tool with Catholic, Christian principles.
