Bad Weather Procedures

INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather, please listen to KYW for school closing information.  Our snow code number is #761.  You will also receive a school reach phone call.  On days when snow or ice is forecast, please encourage your son/daughter to ride the bus!! In case of an emergency school closing during the school day due to inclement weather, your son/daughter will be dismissed when his/her school district is announced to leave. Permission for other students to be driven home by another student must be in writing, signed by both sets of parents or guardians and on file in the student service office prior to any dismissal.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL SCHOOL TO ASK FOR YOUR SON/DAUGHTER TO BE DISMISSED, WE HAVE TO KEEP OUR PHONE LINES OPEN FOR EMERGENCIES. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

ALL SENIORS

FROM: MR. MANGIN, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR STUDENT SERVICES

RE: SENIOR COSTUME DAY

The Administration has agreed to continue the tradition of allowing seniors to dress in costume for Halloween.  However, there are certain guidelines that must be followed to insure the safety and integrity of the school.  These guidelines are as follows:

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BE IN HOMEROOM DURING PRAYER, PLEDGE AND ANNOUNCMENTS NOT IN THE HALLWAYS!!!!!

  • Senior Costume Day is not a dress down day.  Seniors must wear a costume or the regular school uniform.  Dressing in regular street clothes is not acceptable.
  • Only authentic Halloween costumes are to be worn.
  • NO MASKS
  • Inappropriate or suggestive costumes will not be tolerated.  No revealing clothing, i.e., bare midriffs, tops with spaghetti straps, etc. (this includes gentlemen dressing as girls). There is to be no cross dressing at all.
  • Costumes must not show disrespect, or make fun of ethnic groups, religious orders, faculty or staff, etc.
  • Costumes pertaining to drugs or alcohol will not be tolerated.
  • Students may not use props such as toy guns, toy knives, toy swords, lasers, or anything that can be perceived as a weapon.
  • Students may not wear roller blades or roller skates or use skateboards etc..
  • Your costume cannot prohibit you from going to class or create a hazard to other students in the stairway or hallways.

If you are not sure if your costume is appropriate, please see Mr. Mangin in the Student Services Office for approval.  Any student dressed in an inappropriate costume will be sent to the Student Services Office, and his/her parents will be called.  The student will then have to change into his/her school uniform or be suspended.

Anyone who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be suspended immediately, and the civil authorities will be notified.

This is a regular school day and students must attend all classes, no roaming the halls, students are not allowed in the cafeteria unless it is their lunch time

Opening days from SSO

Parent Signature and Current Information Forms can be found on the web site under the student service tab, these forms are due by 9/13/2013.  Students are to bring them in to their homeroom teacher for collection.

As a reminder to all students, we will be in the optional spring/summer uniform as we start school.  ID cards are a must for all students, hair at the proper length and no facial hair for guys.  Any student who is not in full compliance with our dress code may be suspended and will not be allowed to participate in any sport or activity.

PARKING REGISTRATION

Starting August 19th The Student Service Office will be open and accepting parking registration for the 2013-2014 school year.  All information needed to acquire a parking space can be found on the schools web site under the” quick link” section and student service tab.  Please bring with you a copy’s of your valid drivers license, current registration, current car insurance and the fee, cash or check will be accepted. Office hours are 7am – 3 pm Monday to Friday.

Notice to Parents – Drop off and Pick up

Parents: I want to remind you that during morning drop off and afternoon pick up of students, the front of the building is FOR BUSES ONLY. The safety of our students is our first priority.  I have received complaints about parents going in and out of the buses both in the front and back.

When you bring you students to school in the morning please drive around the back of the building. This will allow everyone to get into the parking lot safely.  Also, the buses will be the only ones using the front driveway.  Drop off points in the morning will be the South door by the bank, any parking areas behind the school and the north door by Perkins.

At dismissal time in the afternoon i also ask that you allow the buses to depart first – they are on a time schedule.  Do not pull in front of them, this is for the safety of our students on the bus.  Please do not use the front driveway during dismissal time.

The opening to our property by the bank is for entering only and the opening by Perkins is for exiting only.  If you choose to go against this flow of traffic you are putting yourself and others at risk and will assume responsibility if a problem arises.

Regulation Dress Code

The regulation dress code will begin on Monday, November 5th.  All students must conform to the dress code including wearing their school ID card.  All information about the dress code can be found in the student handbook on pages 20-22.  Any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Mangin in the Student Service Office.

Parent Signature Forms

Parent signature forms are now due.  Students should bring the form to their homeroom teacher.  This form and all forms for SSO can be found on the web site under student services, filled out on the computer, printed and signed by all.
