Honor Society Opportunities

National Honor Society
Membership in NHS is an honor bestowed upon students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. Selection for membership is based upon outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and dedication to service. Once selected, these members must continue to demonstrate these qualities within the school and the local community. The projects of the NHS include weekly tutoring, the Veterans Day Assembly and fundraiser, the Christmas Cookie Drive, our annual Easter Egg Hunt for the children at Nativity School, and various other service events throughout the year. Members of NHS are also frequently called upon to represent the school at special events such as Back to School Night and Open House. These students are considered the role models of the school and, as such, are expected to exemplify the highest standards of Archbishop Wood High School. For more information, contact Mrs. Rita Morton at rmorton@archwood.org.
In-school tutoring takes place during all lunch periods in the Academic Affairs Office on Mondays and Wednesdays. After-school tutoring is from 2:15-3:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Click here to sign up for tutoring!
Science National Honor Society
The Archbishop Wood Chapter of the Science National Honor Society encourages and supports young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration. The motto inscribed in Latin on the Science NHS shield translates to “Fortunate is the one who understands the causes of things.” Therefore, the goals of the SNHS are significant and enduring. Our members pledge to encourage and recognize scientific and intellectual thought, advance their knowledge of classical and modern science, communicate with the scientific community, and participate in community service. We participate in the Bucks County Science and Research Competition at Delaware Valley University every year. All 10th-12th grade students are welcomed to apply for membership each year in September, and candidacy will be determined based on a number of factors listed below.
