Pathways

 

At Archbishop Wood, we offer defined Pathways, collections of recommended courses designed to help students prepare for specific college majors. 

Healthcare Pathway

The Healthcare Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers in medicine, biology, chemistry,  nursing, physical therapy, healthcare management, healthtech, health sciences, behavioral science and more. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Introduction to Health Professions
  • AP Biology / AP Chemistry
  • Medical Terminology (Dual Enrollment)
  • Sports Medicine

 

Engineering Pathway

The Engineering Pathway supports students interested in pursuing careers in mechanical, civil and electrical engineering. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Algebra II
  • Precalculus
  • Calculus / AP Calculus
  • Physics / AP Physics
  • Engineering
  • Intro to Robotics

 

Business, Finance & Entrepreneurship Pathway

The Business, Finance & Entrepreneurship Pathway supports students interested in pursuing careers in business administration, finance, marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship and more. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Accounting I
  • Economics / Entrepreneurship
  • Personal Finance
  • AP Business Principles

 

Computer Science & Technology Pathway

The Computer Science & Technology Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software engineering, information systems and entrepreneurship. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Computer Science Principles
  • Intro to Robotics
  • Computer Science Fundamentals
  • Adobe Multimedia Suite

 

Education & Child Development Pathway

The Education & Child Development Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to education, early childhood education, special education and more. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Child & Adolescent Development (Dual Enrollment)
  • Sociology/Psychology / AP Psychology

 

Law, Criminal Justice & Public Service Pathway

The Law, Criminal Justice & Public Service Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to criminal justice, political science, law, public policy and more. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • American Government & Politics / AP Government
  • Sociology/Psychology / AP Psychology
  • Introduction to Criminal Justice (Dual Enrollment)

Media, Marketing & Communications Pathway

The Media, Marketing & Communications Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to journalism, communications, marketing, advertising, media studies and more. Required courses for this Pathway include:

Environmental Science & Sustainability Pathway

The Environmental Science & Sustainability Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to supply chain management, logistics, transportation, ecology, disaster response and more. Required courses for this Pathway include:

Skilled Trade & Technical Careers Pathway (via CTE)

The Skilled Trade & Technical Careers Pathway supports students interested in pursuing trade certifications and/or careers in construction management, industrial technology and more. Required courses for this Pathway include: 

  • Household Engineering & Technology
  • Construction Technology (via MBIT or Eastern)
  • Electrical Technology (via MBIT or Eastern)
  • Welding (via MBIT or Eastern)
  • Automotive Technology (via MBIT or Eastern)
  • HVAC (via MBIT or Eastern)

 

Arts, Design & Creative Pathway (via CTE)

The Arts, Design & Creative Pathway supports students interested in pursuing majors and careers related to graphic design, fine arts, animation, music and more. Required courses for this Pathway include:
