The Archbishop Wood Advantage
At Archbishop Wood High School, education is not measured solely by what a student achieves in the classroom, but by who that student becomes. The formation of each student is rooted in faith, shaped by discipline, and carried forward through a life of purpose, service, and leadership.
Rooted in Faith
Faith is not confined to moments of prayer or worship, but becomes a daily practice—expressed in reflection, in action, and in the way one treats others. The teachings of Christ are made visible through both word and deed, in school communities, in service to others, and in the quiet pursuit of a deeper relationship with God.
Committed to Excellence
Archbishop Wood students understand that education is both a privilege and a responsibility. They cultivate their individual talents and interests with purpose, developing the discipline, resilience, and problem-solving skills necessary to meet challenges head-on. They are prepared not only for higher education, but for whatever path lies ahead—whether in the workforce, military, or vocational pursuits. Their readiness is not theoretical; it is practical, tested, and enduring.
Strength of Character
Just as importantly, students are formed in character. They live out the school’s enduring motto, “Faithfulness Merits the Crown,” not as a slogan, but as a standard. This means approaching life with maturity, accountability, and integrity, while remaining open to growth and lifelong discernment of purpose.
In a world defined by rapid change and constant innovation, they demonstrate adaptability without losing sight of their values, and perseverance without compromising their principles.
The Foundations of Leadership
Archbishop Wood students lead not for recognition, but for impact. They are guided by values rooted in Catholic social teaching—freedom, integrity, and responsibility—and bring those values into every environment they enter. They engage thoughtfully in a diverse and evolving world, collaborating with others, communicating with clarity, and thinking critically about the challenges before them.
Preparation for a Life Well Lived
In the end, an Archbishop Wood education is not simply preparation for the next step. It is preparation for a life well lived. Grounded in faith. Driven by purpose. Defined by the enduring pursuit of excellence.

Transportation
The following public school districts provide us with daily bus service:

A private transportation company is contracted to transport students from the Northeast Philadelphia area (including zip codes 19111, 19115, 19116). The Roosevelt Mall bus includes zip codes 19135, 19136 and 19149, it also has a stop at Christ the King parish. These transportation services have a nominal fee for the school year.
SEPTA Route 22 stops at Street and York Roads. SEPTA key cards (trans pass) are available to Philadelphia residents. These passes will be distributed from the Activities office during the first week of school.
