Archbishop Wood High School has produced a number of distinguished alumni across athletics, military service, politics, science, and entertainment. Some of the most notable include:

Military & Public Service

  • Andrew M. Allen — NASA astronaut and former U.S. Marine Corps officer who flew on three Space Shuttle missions. 

  • Henry G. Ulrich III — Four-star Admiral in the United States Navy. 

  • Thomas P. Murt — Former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. 

  • Marguerite Quinn — Former Pennsylvania state legislator. 

  • Mark Kearney — Federal judge for the U.S. District Court. 

Athletics

  • Debbie Black — Former professional basketball player and coach, known for her defensive excellence. 

  • Kelly Greenberg — Former women’s basketball coach at the University of Pennsylvania. 

  • Tommy Funk — Archbishop Wood basketball standout who became Army and Patriot League all-time assists leader at United States Military Academy. 

  • Tom Baker — One of the most decorated soccer players in school history and a 2010 NSCAA All-American. 

Science & Academia

  • Claire Cardie — Cornell University professor and prominent computer scientist specializing in natural language processing and AI. 

Entertainment & Media

  • Irene Molloy — Actress known for work in television and theater.

Notable Historical Figure

  • Terri Schiavo — Became nationally known through the landmark legal and ethical case surrounding end-of-life care. 

Archbishop Wood is especially well known regionally for its powerhouse athletics programs — particularly football, girls basketball, soccer, and swimming — which have produced numerous collegiate and professional athletes and coaches over the years.
