Message from the Principal

Dear Viking Family,

Welcome to Archbishop Wood High School, Home of the Vikings!

Archbishop Wood is committed to providing an education not just for the mind but also for the body and soul.  Following our motto, Coronam Fidelitas Merebit, Faithfulness Merits the Crown, we call on our students to be faithful to their gifts as students and achieve at their highest potential, to be faithful to their talents as actors, musicians, athletes, and perform at their best, but most of all to be faithful to their roles as members of our Catholic Community by taking care of each other, our school, and themselves.

At Archbishop Wood we work to form scholars and champions.  The achievement of scholarship can be seen in the amount of scholarship and grant monies earned by our graduates, by the number of students recognized as National Merit and Advanced Placement Scholars, and by the daily engagement of our students in their academic pursuits.

We are proud of our numerous PIAA State Championships, District XII and Philadelphia Catholic League Athletic Championships, national recognition in Robotics, All-Catholic Musicians, awards for creative writing and poetry, and achievement in Forensics and Shakespeare Competitions.

Archbishop Wood, the Home of the Vikings, is a place where all teenagers can find a home, a place to grow in academics, activities, but most importantly as a person.
