At Archbishop Wood High School, we are blessed to be part of a tradition of excellence that spans generations. Planned giving allows you to make a lasting impact—one that reflects your values, honors your family's legacy, and ensures the strength and vitality of Archbishop Wood for future generations of Vikings.
Whether you're an alumnus, parent, grandparent, or friend, your thoughtful gift can shape lives for years to come.
Why Planned Giving?
Planned giving is more than a donation—it's a legacy. It’s a way to:
-
Support Archbishop Wood’s mission well into the future
-
Reduce or eliminate certain tax burdens
-
Leave a meaningful footprint for your family, connecting your name with the values of Catholic education
These gifts often don’t require large cash donations today. Instead, they are structured to take effect in the future—offering flexibility and peace of mind.
Bequests
A bequest is one of the simplest ways to support Archbishop Wood. By including a gift in your will or trust, you can leave a legacy without affecting your current financial security.
How it helps: Bequests can support scholarships, campus improvements, or endowments—building a long-lasting foundation for future students.
Sample bequest language:
"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath [amount or percentage] to Archbishop Wood High School, located at [School Address], for its general use and purposes."
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you're 70½ or older, you can make a gift directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution. These gifts can count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and may be excluded from your taxable income.
Benefits:
Beneficiary Designations
Naming Archbishop Wood as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund is an easy and impactful way to give—often without revising your will.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that have increased in value can be donated directly. This may allow you to avoid capital gains taxes while supporting our mission.
